As chief executive officer of Lument, James Flynn is overseeing its transformation from a provider of agency finance to the multifamily, affordable, and seniors housing industry to a comprehensive CRE platform, offering diversified capital solutions and services for both borrowers and investors. Jim was instrumental in launching Lument, which was created in 2020 from the combination of Hunt Real Estate Capital and two ORIX USA legacy brands, RED Capital and Lancaster Pollard. Today, Lument leads the nation in FHA originations and ranks third in overall seniors lending and sixth in affordable housing. Under his leadership, Lument’s servicing portfolio has grown to over $50 billion and total annual transactions to almost $16 billion.

Jim was tapped to create Lument while serving as President and Chief Investment Officer of Hunt, where he grew its serving portfolio by more than $3 billion and its annual originations by 80 percent. At Hunt’s predecessor company, Centerline Capital Group, he co-led the group responsible for a portfolio of more than $8 billion in affordable multifamily assets and managed the special servicing, REO, and asset disposition units, with a portfolio of more than 1,100 properties totaling more than 120,000 units. Jim also served as portfolio manager for the firm’s commercial mortgage REIT.

Before joining Hunt and Centerline, Jim practiced real estate law at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers. He holds a B.S. in finance and accounting from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Columbia University.
