Hiatt brings his agency underwriting expertise to Lument, where he will manage a team of underwriters focused on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily transactions.

New York, NY — December 18, 2025 — Lument has announced the hiring of Joey Hiatt as senior deputy chief underwriter to oversee a team of underwriters focused on the firm’s conventional multifamily business across its Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s platforms. Hiatt will be based in Lument’s Birmingham, Alabama, office, and reports to Joshua Greitzer, chief underwriter for conventional agency business.

“A top-tier agency platform is built on disciplined underwriting and experienced professionals,” said Lument CEO James Flynn. “We are pleased to welcome Joey to Lument, as he brings deep institutional knowledge and a thoughtful approach to agency underwriting that will further enhance the strength and reliability of our execution for clients and industry partners.”

Before joining Lument, Hiatt served as deputy chief underwriter and team lead at Capital One, where he had worked since 2019. He began his career at Collateral Real Estate Capital in 2006, which later became Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, where he advanced from analyst to senior roles in agency underwriting.

“Joey is a key addition to our underwriting group this year and an important part of the broader investment we have recently made in the platform,” said Greg Calvert, chief credit officer at Lument. “We have added depth across the bench with five recent hires to support a growing conventional pipeline, and Joey’s reasoned judgment and agency experience further strengthen our ability to execute consistently as the business continues to scale.”

Throughout his nearly 20-year career in commercial real estate finance, Joey has overseen the underwriting of more than $10 billion in multifamily agency loans, from screening to closing, with a focus on conventional multifamily and manufactured housing communities.
